Anna-Marie Kingsley (b. 1969, Whitianga) is a self-taught artist who has painted professionally since 2006. She is featured in Denis Robinson’s New Zealand’s Favourite Artists Vol. 2 and has held solo exhibitions at the Academy of Fine Arts, Wellington, and Aratoi. Her work has received multiple awards across New Zealand.
Working primarily in still life, Kingsley explores the anthropomorphic qualities of everyday household objects, imbuing them with personality and narrative.
Alongside her painting practice, she creates cement sculptures, with her cat series being particularly popular. She is also a founding trustee of Wai Art and managed the Wai Art Show for fifteen years, demonstrating a strong commitment to supporting the arts community.
Kingsley and her husband co-developed Hattenburn Gardens near Carterton, a 60-acre property open to the public.
