Maria Paine has lived in Masterton for 22 years and, during that time, has become an active member of several Wairarapa art clubs, building many lasting friendships through her involvement in the local arts community. With her four children now grown and having left home, Maria has more time to devote to her lifelong passion for art.
Having explored a wide range of artistic mediums over the years, Maria has found her greatest enjoyment in working with water-mixable oil paints. Although she jokes that she still cannot quite get her head around how they work, she appreciates their versatility and the results they allow her to achieve.
Maria’s subject matter is wonderfully diverse, encompassing animals, birds, landscapes, and still-life compositions. She is a prolific painter who simply cannot stop creating and finds the process both relaxing and deeply rewarding. Passionate about supporting others, Maria also enjoys encouraging emerging artists to experiment, take creative risks, and develop confidence in their own artistic journeys.
