Marty Andrew discovered a passion for art at around eight years of age, a passion that has remained with him throughout his life. While at primary school, he set himself the goal of winning the art section at Calf Club Day—a goal he proudly achieved. His artistic talent was further recognised during his college years when he received a special art award at the age of sixteen.
From an early age, Marty developed a keen eye for detail and proportion by carefully copying images from art books gifted to him by his mother. As a young artist, he worked extensively in pencil and acrylics, often wearing a paint-splattered beret inspired by his artistic heroes, Van Gogh, Leonardo da Vinci, and Michelangelo.
His creativity extended to cartoon illustrations of classmates and teachers for the school magazine, as well as pokerwork, a skill connected to his apprenticeship as a joiner in the late 1970s. Today, Marty works primarily in oils and continues to embrace learning and artistic growth with every new piece he creates.
