Sharon Fisher is a Wairarapa-based jewellery artist who creates each piece individually from her Carterton studio. Inspired by a long appreciation of artisan jewellery, she began designing and making her own work after training in France in metal clay techniques.
Her process begins with metal clay—fine particles of silver or bronze suspended in an organic binder—allowing each piece to be shaped, textured, and sculpted by hand. Once kiln-fired at high temperatures, the material transforms into solid metal, resulting in pieces that are inherently unique.
Sharon works primarily with fine silver, .960 sterling and bronze. Her current work explores texture and geometric form.
Sharon opens her Carterton studio on weekends. Her work is also available at Aratoi Museum of Art and History (Masterton), the National Library of New Zealand shop (Wellington), Gallery 23 (Carterton), and the Heart of Arts Gallery (Carterton).
