From her open studio amongst the vines, Valerie paints in the heart of the Devotus vineyard, on the Martinborough Terrace. Her work is inspired by the ever-changing light, weather, and seasonal rhythms of the organic vineyard and surrounding landscape.
Together with her husband and two young sons, she farms their small vineyard by hand, producing limited quantities of Pinot Noir, with a philosophy of minimal intervention. Working with nature, not against it. Each vintage is a pure expression of the season.
Valerie’s artistic practice is deeply intertwined with her approach on the vineyard. Expressive, organic, and grounded in a strong sense of place, her paintings reflect the spirit of the environment around her.
